As of tomorrow I am going to leave sinusland and apathyland behind and dive right back in.  I have discovered myself committed or semi-committed to many, many things and I need to sit down and figure out which to keep, which to chuck and which I can manage, all with LOI being the hugest priority.  I realized today I have some responsibility at some level in all of the following non-LOI activities:

  1. Now that the record-breaking primary is over, I have to clarify whether or not I still have some official capacity as the precinct captain for the Hillary campaign.  I’ve been complaining that there seems to be no local Hillary movement and then it occurred to me that maybe the movement is waiting for me!
  2. I committed/agreed to write a book review for the Houston Islamic Source every month.
  3. I also committed/agreed to write an article for Iqra! newspaper.  I have also offered to help them with distribution, although I may have gotten in touch with them too late and I’m waiting to hear back from them.
  4. The Straight Path blog and MuslimMatters – I actually wrote two posts in the last few days!  Wow!
  5. I committed/agreed to help the editor of Islamic Horizons magazine pull together a Houston cover story he’s been trying to complete (long story that involves perhaps choosing the wrong reporters).
  6. Toastmasters – our open house is on the 25th and I’m coordinating that (just as I coordinated the speech contest last week, thanks guys).
  7. I’m hoping to have the chance to put a few words together regarding hadith sciences for the book discussion group I’m involved with, but I haven’t really run that by anyone yet.
  8. I’ll be supporting my husband one way or another with his political activities.

I think that’s it, but I’ll bet I’m forgetting something.  More tomorrow about the hadith sciences/discussion group thing.  Oh no wait, I also need to try to do something with the LOI web site, and it’s probably time for a new newsletter, since it’s been a month and I need to formally send the word out that the opening day has been pushed back :(
