I’m so excited about my new Day Runner planner that I bought yesterday.  It has an undated monthly section and the daily section includes space for a prioritized to-do list as well as hourly appointments, and on the facing page a diary for the day.  It also has an address book, which all the planners have and I feel like I don’t need because I hoard business cards, but we’ll see.  I know it’s not a big deal, but it is to me.

Another source of excitement – not so small – is that God willing on Monday I will be driving my new Honda Fit!  I’ve test driven it twice, and the salesman and I have agreed on a fair price, so on Monday I’m going in to finalize everything.  I can’t wait to get rid of the Grand Marquis!  I chose the Fit because it gets excellent reviews in just about every area by just about every review source.  Also, it has a huge storage space after you fold down the rear seats (which is done with the touch of a button and no need to remove the headrests), which will be useful when I do conferences or festivals and such.  The Grand Marquis is definitely not suited to hauling boxes of books and supplies.

Light of Islam will be closed December 24, 2009, returning January 2, 2010.  Need time to travel, do inventory and make sure all systems are go for 2010!

Happy Thanksgiving and/or Eid Mubarak!

anxiety book004I was standing here stressing over slow traffic, worry about the fundraiser, etc., etc. and decided to grab “Islam’s Treatment for Anxiety and Worry” by Muhammad Salih al-Munajjid.  I picked it up and it fell open to this page.  Crazy!

PatriciaBioPicOn Saturday, November 21, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., Light of Islam will host Patricia Selmo, lifestyle coach, founder of The Blissful Soul and co-founder of the International Association of Women Spiritual Leaders. She will discuss ways to explore your life dreams and design a lifestyle to achieve them.  Refreshments will be served.

Initially I was going to have a booth at the Arab American Festival on October 31 and November 1, but changed my mind after hearing less than favorable things about it, and thinking harder about the logistics involved. ( I’m thinking there was something else I was considering for that weekend, but can’t think of what…)

I got an e-mail yesterday about Celebrate Houston! and I’m going to have a booth there.  More later.

Eid mubarak in advance!
